Diesel engine invented by Rudolf Diesel, in 1872. The diesel engine
called a compression ignition engines because ignition of the fuel caused by the temperature of the compressed air in the combustion chamber.
Combustion process and atomizing of fuel in the engine
diesel is not the same as the gasoline engine.
In the diesel engine sucked by the piston and inserted into the combustion chamber only air, the air which then is compressed until it reaches high temperatures and pressures. Moments before the piston reaches top dead center (TDC) of diesel fuel injected into the combustion chamber. With the temperature and air pressure in the cylinder is very high then the fuel particles will light by itself. So that diesel fuel can be burned alone, it requires 15-22 and a compression ratio of compressed air temperature of approximately 600ÂșC.
Although the diesel engine is not needed as the ignition system
as the gasoline engine, but in diesel engine injection system required
such fuel injection pump (injection pump) and the atomizer (injector)
as well as other auxiliary equipment. Fuel is sprayed must have
flammable nature (self ignition).

The Working Principle of The Diesel Engine
A. Working Principle Engine Diesel 2 Stroke
1. Suction and Compression Step
· At step suction , clean air into the combustion chamber
with the aid of a suction pump .
· The piston moves from bottom dead point top dead point.
· inlet opening so that the clean air into the cylinder
with the aid of an air pump .
· Shortly after the suction duct and exhaust duct closed
then began to do the compression step up air pressure
reaching 700-900 C.
2. Works And Waste Step
Before the piston reaches top dead point, injector spray fuel into the combustion chamber and is as
the
initial combustion , because the fuel mixed with air
clean
and high pressure , there will be a combustion process
perfect
, the result would encourage any piston and the piston moves
from
the top dead point to the bottom dead point ,
shortly piston has not reached
the below dead point
the
exhaust valve had started to open. And when the suction duct
open
the clean air will help drive the residual gas the
result of burning out.
B. Working Principle Engine Diesel 4 Stroke
1. Suction Step
1. Suction Step
·
The suction valve open and exhaust valve closed
The suction valve open and exhaust valve closed
·
The piston moves down and sucking air
inlet into the combustion chamber.
2. Compression Step
·
suction valve and exhaust valve both closed
·
The piston moves upward with
very high pressure in the combustion
chamber
3. Works Step
· Both valves are still closed . Air high pressure
burnt by spraying
fuel into the combustion chamber.
4. Waste Step
·
suction valve closed and exhaust valve open .
·
The piston moves up and push the exhaust gas out
of the combustion chamber.
